The Global Village, spearheaded by the Swiss Biotech Association, serves as a premier platform to foster international collaboration and networking within the biotech and life sciences industries. In partnership with leading Swiss organizations, it offers a continuous, year-round gateway for global biotech clusters to forge and deepen strategic, long-term partnerships within Switzerland’s thriving biotech ecosystem.

Since its inception in 2022, the Global Village has attracted delegations worldwide, reflecting its success in advancing global biotech collaboration. In 2026, we hosted 31 regional and national delegations across all five continents.

The Global Village
at the Swiss Biotech Day in Basel
April 26–27, 2027

The Global Village connects biotech and life sciences clusters worldwide. Each country delegation appoints a lead to coordinate activities and act as primary contact. The Swiss Biotech Day is the anchor event for the Global Village, and attracted over 3,500 participants from 50 countries in 2026.

Benefits for delegations

Enhanced visibility and outreach

Gain significant exposure and outreach opportunities through your delegation booth and on-site engagements — with full access to the Swiss Biotech Day.

Exclusive engagement opportunities

Take part in the Global Village program, including an opening ceremony, international reception, networking marketplace, and curated site visits.

Sustainable long-term partnerships

Build lasting connections through pre- and post-event follow-ups, including meetings at international BIO conferences and targeted follow-up sessions.

How to participate and compose an effective delegation

Selecting delegation members with existing ties or a strong interest in Switzerland and its biotech ecosystem is crucial for success.

To maximize participation and impact in the Global Village, delegations should include key decision makers such as:

  • C-level biotech leaders
  • Biotech investors and venture builders
  • Leaders from translational centers (e.g. university hospitals, clinical investigators)
  • Universities and private research centers
  • Incubators, accelerators, ecosystem facilitators and talent hubs
  • Government and regulatory bodies with a vested interest

Each delegation should designate a lead and co-lead to serve as primary contacts and to coordinate the delegation’s activities.

Coordinate delegation
Identify delegation members, facilitate their participation, and manage delegation activities.

Manage budget
Secure the necessary budget to cover participation and attendance costs.

Manage your presence
Provide material to secure your visibility at the event. Engage with video interviews and use the photo booth.

Coordinate meetings
Arrange individual meetings before or after the event if requested by your delegation.

Plan long-term engagement
Develop an action plan for follow-up activities after the Swiss Biotech Day.

Timely engagement

Two deadlines depending on your level of engagement

November 30: Booth order deadline WITH engagement in the Global Village program

The booth must be reserved and the contract signed by the end of November to benefit from engagement opportunities in the Global Village program. This early commitment allows us to integrate your proposed activities into the program and coordinate with relevant Swiss biotech stakeholders.

January 31: Booth order deadline WITHOUT program engagement

The booth must be reserved and the contract signed by the end of January if you wish to participate without engagement in the Global Village program, subject to availability.

To achieve impactful collaboration and fully leverage all available opportunities, we require your active preparation and engagement. Utilizing existing tools, such as the Swiss Biotech Directory or the Swiss Biotech Ventures platform to search and identify companies of interest and/or potential partners, and adhering to the timelines will streamline the preparation process and enhance your overall experience.

Other ways to participate in the Global Village
Interested parties wishing to join a delegation are encouraged to contact us and express their interest. Similarly, Swiss companies connected to leading international ecosystems are invited to signal their interest in contributing to the Global Village initiative.
